Saturday morning we got up and did the Lupron shot around 7am - a little blood, but no bruise. :) Then I went to Skyrobics with a neighbor friend. It was really fun to jump around on the trampolines - what a great workout! I enjoyed the circuit training session where we rotated through different stations. My back was sore before the end of the class (which she said is expected from all of the jumping) - but I loved it. And my lower back really hurts today! Hopefully it goes away by tomorrow.
During the class my neighbor and I were chatting throughout the workout. I was talking about my nephews/niece so she asked if we would ever want kids. I said, "Yes, someday..." And she said, "Oh, that's good. Are you guys practicing or trying?" She is one of the newer neighbors in our neighborhood, but most kinda know that we've been trying for awhile. So I told her that we were trying (understatement of the year - hee, hee!). And she said, "That's exciting!!" After a few moments I replied with, "It is - except we've been trying for too long..." I didn't really specify how long - so she may be thinking it's just been a year or a few months. Of course then she said she was sorry to hear that and asked if we had talked to my doctor about it yet. I didn't go into details but just said that we have been talking to our doctor and are trying some "treatments" that we hope will work. I figured it was best to let her know we were having troubles so she's not asking me if I'm pregnant every time she sees me. :)
After class, my husband and I started tackling the great wide open.... the larger and last part of our basement that needs to be painted. After 3.5 hours of painting - we took a break for lunch and I went to a friend's baby shower while he watched the Masters. We actually got quite a bit done - the majority of the first coat.
I honestly wasn't sure if this baby shower was going to be different for me after the disappointment of the failed IVF attempt. But lucky for me I was fine and had a really good time at the shower! It was for one of my college friends - who is due with her 1st little boy on May 24th (the day after my sister's due date). Another one of my college friends was there as well - who is due with her 1st baby (they didn't find out the sex) on May 19th! I'm so excited for both of them. :) They both look great and it was nice to catch up with them! I took a cute picture of the two of them outside by this "BUMP" sign that's on my friend's street. They don't really know about our baby struggles so when they asked me what was new - I just told them about our basement project. The basement project actually has probably been a really good distraction for us through all of this. After the shower I stopped by my high school friend's house to pick up a desk they were giving away. (I'm actually blogging from the new desk in my room right now - I love it!! Thanks, Elphie!)
Around 7:30pm we started back on our painting project. My brother-in-law came down the street to help us paint for a few hours and even went to Home Depot to pick up another gallon of paint for us. We finished the rest of the first coat. The first coat that we had done in the morning looked quite splotchy and I was a little nervous. But that magical second coat made all of the walls look much better. We finished up around 11:30pm last night. I wasn't sure that we were going to be able to get that painting done this weekend and we got it done in one day!
Today we have a birthday party for one of our friends' little boys at noon. I can't believe he's going to be 5 already - such a sweet and super-smart little guy. He has a little brother that will be 2 in October and another baby brother that will be arriving in July - so excited for all of them. :) The weather is supposed to be amazing today - so I'd like to get out and enjoy that as well. I'd go for a run if my back wasn't all jacked up from Skyrobics yesterday.
I took my last birth control pill on Saturday morning - so for now it's just Lupron and my prenatal vitamin. As far as the next steps, my period should show up sometime this week. When it does, I need to call Penny the ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology) nurse to set-up my baseline estradiol test to verify my estrogen levels before they start me on the estrogen shots. In closing, I want you all to know that my husband is wonderful and I can't wait for him to be a daddy someday.
P.S. Only 6 months until my next birthday. :)
