Throughout this cycle, there have been many songs that I felt related to what we're going through. The CDs that came in my care package had a lot of great ones. A few like "Never Say Never" by Justin Bieber and "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus were quite suitable in their messages about never giving up and enjoying the journey in reaching your dreams (I'm sure some of you are rolling your eyes at those - hee, hee). My friend also put some oldies but goodies that we used to listen to alot during our college years together. One of our favorites to listen to back then was "That's the Way It Is" by Celine Dion. I feel like the chorus (shown below) can be related to our situation in that we just have to have faith that it will all work out in the end.
When you want it the most there's no easy way out
When you're ready to go and your heart's left in doubt
Don't give up on your faith
Love comes to those who believe it
And that's the way it is
One of the newer songs on one of the CDs that really touched me was "I Won't Let Go" by Rascal Flatts. Since I got my care package towards the beginning of the cycle - the sadness of the failed IVF cycle was pretty fresh in my mind. And so this song made me think of how we felt when we got our bad news back in February. But the lyrics reminded me that we're not alone in this and that we have our family & friends to support us no matter what. The other great thing about this country song is that the country radio stations have been playing it quite a bit. And every time it came on the radio, I felt like it was being played just for us. A few times driving home from work it has been played and brought some tears to my eyes. We are very grateful for the support & love from everyone. Below are a few of the stanzas that I really like from this song.
It hurts my heart, To see you cryI know it’s dark, This part of life
Oh it finds us all, And we’re too small
To stop the rain, Oh but when it rains
I will stand by you, I will help you through
When you’ve done all you can do, And you can’t cope
I will dry your eyes, I will fight your fight, I will hold you tight
Tonight I taught my last aerobics class before the transfer - I will be taking a few weeks off of teaching as we wait for our results. I have a few CDs that I play at the end during the cooldown part of the class. I just started it in the middle of the CD and some Christian songs played for most of the cooldown. Then at the end the song "Step by Step" by Whitney Houston came on - which is a song that I had kinda forgotten about. But I think this song definitely relates to our journey - it's been a rough road and it may get rougher before it gets better, but all we can do is take it step by step, day by day. Good night!
Well there's a bridge and there's a river that I still must cross
As I'm going on my journey - Oh, I might be lost
And there's a road I have to follow, a place I have to go
Well no-one told me just how to get there
But when I get there I'll know
'cause I'm taking it
Step By Step, Bit by Bit,
Stone By Stone, Brick by Brick
Step By Step, Day By Day, Mile by mile
And this old road is rough and ruined
So many dangers along the way
So many burdens might fall upon me
So many troubles that I have to face
Oh, but I won't let my spirit fail me
Oh, I won't let my spirit go
Until I get to my destination
I'm gonna take it slowly 'cause I'm making it mine
Step By Step, Bit by Bit,
Stone By Stone, Brick by Brick
Step By Step, Day By Day, Mile by mile
