Another 2011 Baby! :) On Saturday morning I got a phone call from my fellow '79er cousin (we were both born in 1979) and she shared some really exciting news. She is 20 weeks pregnant!! She and her hubby are expecting their first baby in early September!! :) We are really happy for them. She was on her way to Michigan to share the news with the rest of the family that was getting together for her nephew's baptism. She teared up a little towards the end of the conversation as she told me that they've been thinking a lot about me and my hubby during this time. Even though I think most people know that we will be happy to hear their news, I understand that it's probably a hard thing to tell us. I really hate that other friends/family have to feel bad sharing their good news with us - but I don't think there's anything we can do to stop it. We both said that maybe since she's pregnant, that will make this time work for me. My cousin and his wife had a baby in January of this year and my sister's of course due in May - so this is a big baby booming year for my extended family! My cousin's due in early September - so I'd have to get pregnant with twins for us to have any hope at having 2011 babies together. :)
Mada!! Saturday afternoon we attended a luncheon meeting for my mom's Okinawa Tomonokai group. My family is very active in the group and everytime we get together - many of the other Okinawan ladies are asking when I'm going to have a baby. I knew Saturday would be no exception - especially with how pregnant my sister is right now. It's just natural for them to ask her when she's due, if it's a boy/girl, and then turn and ask when I'm going to have one. I know they don't mean anything by it and have no idea what we're going through. Typically when I have people make those comments - it's usually like one comment for the day, which is easier to handle. But it is much harder with so many ladies asking me over and over, one after the other. Some of them would even pat my stomach as they ask me - so annoying!! I wanted to be like, "We're working on it.... trust me." But of course I just smiled and said "Mada" which means "not yet" in Japanese. If our baby luck doesn't turn around, I may have to boycott these events until I do get pregnant!
Palm Sunday We spent Saturday night at my parent's house in my hometown and went to church with them on Sunday morning. My sister and I sang in the Easter cantata with our dad and the rest of the choir. My dad had a solo and did an amazing job on it! It was fun to sing with the choir even though I was still fighting my congestion. That afternoon my normal speaking voice was sounding really bad - so I don't know that singing for 25 minutes straight was really what the doctor ordered. Ooops! That afternoon my hubby's brother and wife came up to help with the bathroom tile in our basement. Aunt Annie took care of entertaining her nephews - we went to Laser Kraze where they enjoyed playing laser tag and lots of arcade games. We also went to the park in my neighborhood and my sister brought my youngest nephew to play with them as well. It was cute to see 4 of my nephews playing together in the sandbox at the playground. Aunt Annie can also put the smack down when needed - I'm not afraid to put my nephews in time-out when needed, so don't mess with me. ;)
This Week On Monday my voice sounded better but my coughs started getting really deep. I could tell a couple people at work were a little scared by my deep coughs. I ended up leaving a little early and headed home to relax for the night. My sister and my little nephew came to visit me for a little. Then I caught up on some episodes of "Glee" and "Biggest Loser." Yesterday my cough wasn't as deep - but I would still have coughing fits every now and then. I didn't want to risk getting worse by teaching my aerobics class that night - so I tried to get a sub. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a sub- so we ended up having to cancel my class. I didn't think that talking for an hour straight during my class would be what I needed this week. Instead I went home and relaxed with my hubby and we caught up on some more shows.
In closing, I'd like to wish a very warm and belated happy birthday wish to Josclyn Ann - who was born on Monday to our dear friends down in Georgia!! :)
