Today was a short work-day for me as I had to leave early for an eye doctor appointment at 3:20PM. I'm not sure why I have to fill out paperwork like I'm new patient every time I go, but I do. One of the questions on the form was, "Currently are you pregnant or nursing?" with "Yes ____ No ____" after it. Where was the PUPO option?!?! :) After staring at the question and thinking about it for awhile, I ended up putting a question mark in the yes section. When the assistant took me back and was reviewing the form she said, "So you think you might be pregnant?" And I said, "Yes, we hope so. I'm going through some fertility treatments right now." I was surprised when she responded by saying, "I thought you might be since I recognized the prescriptions you listed - I actually used fertility drugs as well." Who knew! Nice of her to share with me. She went through it quite a few years ago as her kids are now 22 & 17. Sounded like they used the fertility drugs for the first one and then didn't need any help with their second child. Part of me still thinks once we get one baby that maybe we won't have to get any "help" to get pregnant again - probably not very realistic, but that's what I find myself thinking!
Anyway, she said that since I may be pregnant they just weren't going to dilate my eyes today. When I asked what harm there is in dilating the eyes - she said that some say that dilating the eyes could hurt the fetus. And that even though there have been no concrete studies to prove it, they just play it safe by not dilating any pregnant ladies. I'm guessing dilating my eyes today probably would've been okay on my embryos - but better to be safe than sorry. When I told my mom I was going to the eye doctor today - she was asking if I was allowed to go. I thought she was being a little silly - but I guess she was partially right. I didn't really think the pregnancy question would be posed from my eye doctor today.
My sister wanted to get a pedicure before her 2nd baby boy arrives sometime this week (either on his own terms this week or on Friday after she gets induced). We ended up both getting manicures, since the salon couldn't seem to fit in a pedicure. I feel bad that she didn't get her pedicure - but I guess she still has a few more days to try to squeeze that in. We both opted for the french manicure. Can't wait to meet our newest nephew!! :)
We had dinner at my sister's house, played with our nephew, and then went back to our house for some brownies & ice cream. A mini progressive dinner! :) The brownies from my IVF buddy were delicious with mint-chocolate chip ice cream. I took a little nap while my husband watched the rest of the Reds game. When I brought the laptop into our room after getting ready for bed my husband asked me, "Now that you had your nap, are you all ready to stay up until 1 o'clock?" Slight exaggeration by him- but it is 11:30pm, so I think I should go to bed! Oyasumi!!
