Just wanted to log a quick post tonight and apologize for not posting anything in awhile! We've been keeping busy getting ready for our little ones, while still managing to squeeze in a couple of weekends away while my husband played in some member/guest golf tournaments. Now that we are definitely well into the 2nd trimester and more than halfway done with our pregnancy (22 weeks & 3 days), we are definitely in full on baby mode to get things ready and organized for their upcoming arrival. It's been so fun sorting through all of the hand-me-down toys and clothes that we've been given. And we even started our mini-van shopping adventure last Wednesday!
Tiffin Open House: Yesterday we had our first official shower to celebrate the quads! Technically, it was more of an open house (more like a graduation party) - where folks could just come/go as they please to visit and enjoy some delicious food prepared by my family. It was very laid back and my parents' hosted it at their house. I did my best to mingle and chat with everyone - but there were of course a few folks that I didn't really get a chance to talk to very much. But it was really nice to get to see and catch up with so many family friends that I hadn't seen in a very long time. Despite our very unique situation, it's so great to be surrounded by so much love and excitement. Unfortunately, it was raining off/on throughout the open house - so we were all stuck inside for the party. Luckily, since my parents house is now officially on the market - they had cleared out quite a bit of furniture (for staging purposes) - which allowed us lots of room to have tables/chairs for the party. One of my favorite parts of the shower was taking group pictures with all of my cousins and cousin-in-laws (in the room we so dearly referred to as the dorm room). It was definitely quite warm in that room by the time we got all of the different group shots taken. So happy to have all of the cousins together! Joby and I would like to thank our wonderful Kortlandt family for planning/hosting such a wonderful party. Definitely appreciate all of the family and friends that came from near (Tiffin) and far (Arkansas/Vermont) to celebrate with us! We received lots of wonderful gifts and have a great start to our children's book collection. Our little ones are so loved and they haven't even arrived! So crazy to think they will be here in about 3 months!
Baby Bump Pictures! Some folks have been asking for some baby bump pictures - my apologies for the delay in getting these posted. But don't you worry - as you can see below, the baby bumps have DEFINITELY arrived. We had an appointment with Dr. Lindauer back on 6/21. Since we had the high-risk ultrasound on 6/14 - it was just a quick check like other "normal" pregnant ladies. Dr. Lindauer seemed very pleased with the ultrasound results and wasn't very concerned about our one daughter that has the missing vein in her umbilical cord. She did say that they would probably do an extra monitoring test on me later in the pregnancy to make sure she's doing okay. I did have a "pregnancy brain" moment on the way to our appointment that morning - took the wrong highway for quite awhile until it hit me that Dr. Lindauer's office is off of 270, not 315. This week, we have another round of high-risk ultrasounds down at Riverside Hospital on Thursday. It will be good to check in and see how our 4 babies are doing. We are both definitely feeling them moving around inside from time to time - such a cool feeling! Last Wednesday night, I was feeling some movement and had my husband place his hand on my belly - I was so happy when he was able to feel her moving around. And on Friday night, I felt like I was feeling one of the girls have hiccups. ;)

In closing, I'd like to ask for some prayers of peace and comfort for the family of Nick Hunter. He grew up in my hometown and I am good friends with his older sister. Our families have always been close! Nick had a heart transplant last fall - but passed away rather abruptly on Saturday morning. Sending lots of love and hugs to his family - cannot even imagine what it would be like to lose a 31 year old son, brother, cousin, or nephew. RIP Nick!

My husband and I got married in 2005 and tried to start our family back in January 2008. We started our 1st round of in-vitro in December 2010 - which is when this blog was started. Despite a near perfect cycle, it resulted in a negative pregnancy test in February 2011. We were fortunate to get 6 extra embryos from that cycle that were frozen. In March 2011 we started a Frozen Embryo Transfer cycle. Despite another great cycle (on paper), all 6 of our frozen embryos had to be thawed to get 2 good ones for transfer - which failed to result in a pregnancy. In 2012, we took the first half of the year off and then tried a couple rounds of IUI with and without fertility shots - still no baby. In 2013, we did our 2nd round of in-vitro with my sister offering to be our gestational carrier. We ended up transferring 2 embryos into each of us and were blessed to welcome 4 babies in October 2013.
