We have really been into the London Olympics - so here's to hoping that I can make it until the Closing ceremonies on Sunday without my period. I mean, it is "No Whammy Week" after all. This week is normally when the "dreading to go to the bathroom" part kicks in. But I've been okay so far - feeling kinda confident about this cycle for some reason. I just feel more "optimistic" than "cautiously optimistic" these days. Part of me just really believes this has got to be our turn to start that family we've been trying to start for so long. During our last cycle, my period started to show up in the afternoon - exactly two weeks from the procedure. That would be Wednesday afternoon for this cycle - so we'll see how I'm feeling when that timeframe gets closer.
One of my sister-in-laws was saying that I probably wouldn't know what to do with myself if things turned out for us this cycle. And I think she's absolutely right. ;) We are pretty much experts at dealing with the disappointing news - would love to have the opportunity to show you all how we react to some happy news for a change!
With my delayed post last Friday regarding Wednesday's activities - I caused a bit of panic for one of my besties that's following the blog. I talked to her tonight and told her that I planned to post every night this week, to keep everyone in the loop. She said she was going to hold me to it. I won't let her down. :)
Thanks to "Hi Puppy" for yet another mixed CD - can't wait to listen to it during my drive to/from work tomorrow. And thanks to Nicholas and his parents and grandparents for a wonderful weekend in Binghamton. And happy belated birthday to JS - hopefully you got some DITB. ;)
Happy Friday & Good Morning! Just wanted to let everyone know that everything went well on Wednesday. I went in for my blood test at the LabCorp - the lady that works there is so sweet. She's cheering for us, too! Then I came home and Dr. Joby gave me my booster shot of Novarel - which is hopefully helping the pregnancy along, because we all know that implantation occurred, right? :) Right!
McKenzie called in the afternoon with the results of the progesterone test. They want it to be over 10 and mine was at 30. This test is to see how well you ovulated. Last cycle I had a level of 64. My husband thought it was kinda weird that my number was higher with Clomid - since we used the more intense fertility drugs this cycle. I think Clomid's purpose is to boost ovulation, while the fertility drugs are more follicle stimulating - so maybe that's why? Either way, I'm glad the level was higher than what it needed to be. ;) We just have to wait and see. I did ask McKenzie if the booster shot would have any affect on my period, like if having that on my system would delay me period. She said it wouldn't have an affect on it - so if it's gonna show up it, it probably will before the 11th. Next week I'll get into the "afraid to go to the bathroom" phase - let's hope for no whammies!!
As far as symptoms, my boobs are kinda tender/sore and I feel some kind of cramping/bloating-ness from time to time. But other than that, I feel fine. Would love to start getting some nausea in the morning... but no such luck! ;)
We've been keeping busy as always! Last Friday I went out with a bunch of girls and served as one of the two designated drivers. One of our other friend's is pregnant and we're hoping to be pregnant together!! Then on Sunday we went up to Cleveland for the Kenny Chesney & Tim McGraw concert with our country convert buddies, the Frases! The concert was great and we had so much fun. I was kinda glad not to be drinking - the drinks are so expensive! And it was funny to watch everyone else get a little tipsy. Hoping that next weekend I'll still have a reason to be the Happy DD!!
Our 7 year anniversary is at the end of the month (24 more days). Would be so nice to be pregnant on our anniversary.... :) Thanks for your support and prayers - let's all hope that no period shows up next week and that we make it to the big testing day on August 11th. 8 more days!!
In closing, I have quite a few birthday shout-outs. Happy birthday to our oldest nephew, Jack - who turns 14 today!! And happy belated birthday to KT and my angel, Casey! And happy birthday eve to my big cousin!!
My husband and I got married in 2005 and tried to start our family back in January 2008. We started our 1st round of in-vitro in December 2010 - which is when this blog was started. Despite a near perfect cycle, it resulted in a negative pregnancy test in February 2011. We were fortunate to get 6 extra embryos from that cycle that were frozen. In March 2011 we started a Frozen Embryo Transfer cycle. Despite another great cycle (on paper), all 6 of our frozen embryos had to be thawed to get 2 good ones for transfer - which failed to result in a pregnancy. In 2012, we took the first half of the year off and then tried a couple rounds of IUI with and without fertility shots - still no baby. In 2013, we did our 2nd round of in-vitro with my sister offering to be our gestational carrier. We ended up transferring 2 embryos into each of us and were blessed to welcome 4 babies in October 2013.
